University of Nairobi Student hacks and deletes Huduma Namba Exercise Files!



A University of Nairobi IT student, Enock Ovitah alias Jakuo has been arrested with a felony count of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, a law that prevents and prosecutes malicious hacking.

The charges could carry up to 10 years in prison and Ksh 1 million in penalties. Enock Ovitah committed the usual crime of hackers who break into computer systems and routinely deleted files of the ongoing Huduma Namba exercise.
More than Ksh 21 Million in damages were lost as a result and he will be charged with “unauthorized damages. According to his indictment, on April 30. Enock deleted 213 backup files from Idemia’s servers, as well as half a dozen pages of the company’s internal wiki.


He also turned off automatic backup settings for several different parts of the company’s network.
